What Is a Liquid Facelift?

Everyone ages differently, and a liquid facelift can be customized to address each patient’s unique concerns. Many people choose a liquid facelift to minimize wrinkles, forehead lines, and the loss of facial volume, but we can also lift, sculpt, and contour areas of the face to achieve even greater results. Most often, a liquid facelift can be completed in a single outpatient session with minimal or no downtime required. It’s a popular approach with younger patients who want to postpone the look of aging as much as possible. In fact, this population makes up a large portion of the patient base at my medical spa in Houston.

The most common additions to liquid facelift include:

  • BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®: These injectable products have the same active ingredient: botulinum toxin type A, which halts muscle activity where it’s administered. Therefore, when used for a cosmetic indication, these products are excellent options for reducing wrinkles caused by movement–specifically, crow’s feet, frown lines, and lines between the eyebrows. Results last from about 3 to 6 months.
  • Dermal fillers: Products such as JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, RADIESSE®, and Sculptra Aesthetic® add volume to various facial areas. For example, these fillers work to improve the look of hollow cheeks, tear troughs, and many kinds of wrinkles. With the addition of soft, natural-looking volume, these products can also provide a bit of lift. Depending on which products are used and where they’re placed, fillers can create results that last for up to 2 years.
  • KYBELLA®: Sometimes referred to as the “double chin shot,” this injectable treatment uses a substance called deoxycholic acid, which naturally occurs in the body, to dissolve and absorb submental fat — the fat in the area immediately below the chin. After treatment, these fat cells can no longer accumulate and store more fat — in fact, this treatment permanently removes them from the body. You will still see changes in your appearance as you age, of course, and significant weight gain can diminish your results.
  • Fat Grafting with ALMI™: Using your own purified fat and blood platelets (from another area of your body) to add volume and smoothness to your face may seem too good to be true, but it’s a favorite among our patients. This approach harvests your own unwanted fat using a special cannula about the size of a typical needle. The fat that’s removed is purified in a unique process that isolates fat cells and blood platelets, rich with growth factors. The purified fat is then strategically injected throughout the face, just like any other dermal filler, and results are long-lasting. The entire process takes about 1 hour, and patients who undergo this technique can go back to their normal activities the same day.

By understanding your aesthetic goals, I can make personalized recommendations so we can plan your liquid facelift together. On your procedure day, you can expect to be in my office for approximately an hour. I’ll administer your injections according to the plan we created during your consultation. Depending on the techniques we choose, you may see your results immediately.
