4 Quick and Easy Med Spa Procedures

With so many med spa options available in Houston, it can be hard to know which treatments will get you the results you want. In this post, I’ve gathered some of our most popular aesthetic skincare procedures for those who want to freshen up their skin quickly and easily. You’ll get the details about what each treatment is, who can benefit, and how long the procedure takes.

HydraFacial®: The HydraFacial is a form of dermabrasion that exfoliates, cleans, and hydrates the skin using a 3-step system. This is a soothing, nonirritating treatment for people who want to brighten their skin and address issues such as dullness, dryness, wrinkles, fine lines and acne. People of all ages with different skin tones and skin types can benefit from this procedure.

The HydraFacial takes about 60 minutes to perform and is completely noninvasive. Your skin is first cleansed to remove dirt and oil and to open your pores and prepare your skin for treatment. Next, a glycolic acid peel is applied to exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin. Then, the HydraFacial uses a vacuum-like machine to remove the dead skin cells and deep clean clogged pores. Last, a special infusion tool is used to push an antioxidant and collagen serum into the skin to boost hydration and elasticity.

DermaplaningDermaplaning is a type of physical exfoliation that uses a scalpel to gently scrape off dead skin cells and fine hair. This is an excellent option for people who are struggling with dry skin or who want to improve the look of acne scars, sun spots, or age spots. The result is a brighter, more evenly toned complexion with fewer imperfections.

Dermaplaning treatments take about 45 minutes to perform and require no downtime. Immediately after your procedure, your skin will feel softer and look visibly smoother.

Melanage™ Peel: To correct skin pigmentation irregularities and melasma, I offer the Melanage Peel. This superficial chemical peel is specifically designed to improve the appearance of hyperpigmented skin.

The Melanage Peel is applied in the office, worn on the skin for several hours, and removed at home. You will be given specific instructions on how to care for your skin after treatment. Your skin may feel tight and look red for a few hours or days afterward, similar to a sunburn.

After a few weeks, your final results will surface and your skin will look healthier, clearer, and more glowing. Dark spots will appear significantly lightened, and your overall skin texture and tone should be greatly improved.

SkinPen®: SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device in the United States. It features 12 tiny needles that safely puncture the skin. This causes “micro-injuries” that stimulate the skin’s natural healing processes and encourage the growth of collagen and elastin, 2 important proteins for healthy, youthful skin.

The SkinPen is especially helpful for treating acne scars but it can also be used to improve fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and uneven skin tone. Treatments take between 30 to 60 minutes, and you can go back to your normal routine immediately.
