Like it or not, we all sweat. Perspiration helps the body regulate its temperature, preventing us from overheating even on the most sweltering Texas afternoons. But if you suffer from excessive underarm sweating—a condition called hyperhidrosis—ThermiDry at our Houston practice may be a good option for you. ThermiDry is the preferred solution for creating lasting dryness and putting an end to embarrassing wetness and odor.
ThermiDry Treatments With Dr. Cash
ThermiDry is a nonsurgical treatment for reducing underarm sweat. Although sweating is a necessary function, the human body contains millions of sweat glands from head to toe, and only about 2 to 3 percent of them are in the armpits. Deactivating these will not affect your body’s ability to cool itself or function normally.
Dr. Cash administers ThermiDry in the office as an outpatient procedure. Patients can expect to get back to work and other daily obligations immediately after the procedure.
Like other Thermi procedures, ThermiDry uses radiofrequency energy to penetrate the skin without the need for an incision. Using a light local anesthetic, Dr. Cash gently inserts a thin probe just beneath the skin’s surface. The probe directs radiofrequency energy to the sweat glands, inhibiting their ability to produce sweat. The ThermiDry device uses a sophisticated temperature regulating mechanism to ensure the treatment is optimally effective without damaging the skin or other tissues.
Most ThermiDry patients say that the procedure isn’t painful. Instead, many say they experience a sensation of warmth while the device works. The procedure lasts about 1 hour.

Combining ThermiDry With Other Treatments
Because ThermiDry is nonsurgical, it’s easy to undergo additional procedures during your appointment. The right combination of procedures depends largely on the conditions that bother you. For example, ThermiSmooth® uses the same technology as ThermiDry to increase collagen production and smooth the face or body. ThermiVa® also uses radiofrequency energy to tighten and tone the vulva and vagina for improved enjoyment of sex and fewer incidences of incontinence.
Is ThermiDry right for me?
Although many people who undergo ThermiDry do so because they’ve been diagnosed with hyperhidrosis, you needn’t have a diagnosis to pursue treatment. If you experience excessive underarm sweating that doesn’t seem to respond to clinical-strength antiperspirants, ThermiDry is likely a good solution for you.
How is it different than BOTOX® for excessive sweating?
Although BOTOX has been used as a treatment for excessive sweating, it’s simply not as effective as ThermiDry. In our practice, we prefer ThermiDry because it yields more lasting, significant results.
Will I need more than a single treatment?
You may undergo an additional treatment if you’re not satisfied with the results of the initial procedure, but most patients don’t find this necessary. The results of a single ThermiDry treatment can last for up to 5 years.Back to Top
